It feels good to finally be able to share one of my first projects of the year, my still life photography for JVN Hair's Essential Dry Shampoo product launch!

I am no stranger to shooting haircare campaigns, having already shot many for various other brands over the years- but rarely do we get to recreate these outdoor environments in the studio. Most haircare shoots revolve around a bathroom or salon environment, however in this case we were able to recreate outdoor, mediterranean, beach-side environments- a healthy reprieve from the winter weather we were experiencing at the time. These are always really fun to create in the studio, as it usually calls for a lot of texture, hard light, shadow interplay and light striations. A single one of these elements is usually enough to get my lighting muscle excited, but mixing all of them produces a smoothie of visual satisfaction.

Prop stylist Erica Lutz painstakingly placed every strand of seaweed by hand in the micellar call-out image, and the floating ingredients shot was also captured completely in camera using rigging and focus-stacking. Overall love how it all turned out and integrated with the model assets shot on the west coast- bittersweet as it was my final shoot in the old studio, but looking forward to sharing my new space with clients and crew alike for all future shoots!
